Want to begin 2018 in style?
It is possible by following 4 simple fashion rules I learned from my ultimate style icon Gabrielle Chanel!
Chanel is known for a certain effortlessly luxurious look. Just think of how many crave and have worn the "double C" logo.
Coco Chanel is one of the most-quoted women in fashion. She revolutionized the industry and still has a significant impact on fashion today. Chanel was known for her quotes on style and celebrating the individual.
Here are some of my favorites...
I."Some people think luxury is the opposite of poverty. It is not. It is the opposite of vulgarity."
Style is flair that's best when combined with a certain degree of subtlety and balance. True style is fashion that is innate and effortless. Overt, in your face style can easily come across like you are trying too hard.
II. "Look for the woman in the dress. If there is no woman, there is no dress."
Amazing details, patterns, fabrics and colors are never quite so amazing if they do not flatter. Clothes, makeup and hair are best when they are enhancements to the woman wearing them and when the focus is on the complete package.
Everything you wear should help you look your best. Wearing something that does nothing for you is like throwing money in the trash and setting it on fire ... A tragic and total waste!
III. "Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman."
The goal is to present the best you possible.
The confidence of knowing you look your best carries through in your voice, how you smile and walk, and how well you interact with others.
Proper fit is also key to looking flawless. Tugging at ill-fitting clothes is distracting and detracts from your confidence.
The prettiest dress is just simply a dress if it doesn't fit well. Knowing your body type helps you understand what cuts will look best on you.
IV. "The best color in the whole world is the one that looks good on you."
Learn what colors are your colors. Do you look best in icy, pale greens and blues, jewel tones, muted peaches and grays, warm yellows and beige or some blended combination?
Understanding your coloring and undertones is not only important when selecting clothing but also hair color, and finding the right makeup.
Do a color analysis and try on different colors, take note of what looks great on you. No trend should override this rule.
By following these 4 simple rules, you will definitely up you fashion game and stay fashionable all year long!
